Opening in Manchester

Good furniture, delivered kindly.

A Manchester marketplace for second-hand furniture with the delivery built in — so buying a second-hand sofa is as simple as buying a brand new one.

Why we are building it

Second-hand furniture is easy to find. Getting it home is the hard part.

You can already find a good solid wood table on eBay, Gumtree or in a charity shop. What you cannot do is buy it the way you would buy new. The delivery is always somewhere else — a separate app, a separate set of quotes, a separate day to book, and a van you have to hope it fits in.

So people give up and buy new instead, and a perfectly good table goes in a skip. Mubli puts the two halves back together: the furniture and the delivery, one price, one checkout. Second-hand, as easy as new.

How it will work

1

Find something good

Real pieces from real homes and charity shops, all within Greater Manchester. One price, delivery included — no working out what a van costs afterwards.

2

Pick a day that suits

Choose when it arrives. A local driver collects it from the seller and brings it to you, so neither of you needs a van or a favour from a friend.

3

Or collect it yourself

If it is round the corner and you have got the boot space, collection is free. The choice is yours, and the price says so up front.

What we are trying to do

A Manchester company, and a fairly small idea.

Less in the skip

Furniture gets thrown out every day in Manchester that somebody else would have been glad of. Usually it goes because moving it is harder than replacing it.

Better furniture, for less

Delivery is not free, and on a heavy, well-made piece it can cost more than a flat-pack one would. But the furniture and the delivery together still come to a fraction of what the same thing costs new — which is what puts solid wood within reach.

Steadier work for drivers

A van driver’s day is mostly a scramble: a job here, another across the city, and a lot of time spent looking for the next one. We group deliveries into routes so we can offer a full day’s work at a rate agreed up front, rather than one more job to chase.

Be there when it opens.

We are starting small, in a few Manchester postcodes at a time. Leave your details and we will let you know when Mubli reaches yours — and if you tell us what you are after, or what you are trying to shift, it genuinely helps us decide where to start.

Which sounds like you?

One email when we launch in your area. We won't pass your details to anyone.

Where we are up to, honestly

Mubli is not open yet. We are building it in Manchester, talking to charity shops, drivers and anyone who will tell us what we have got wrong. If you run a shop with furniture to move, or you drive a van and this sounds like work you would want, we would like to hear from you — hello@mubli.co.uk.
